Preparation for Interview
 

  1. You should collect more information about the company and the post you apply, such as the business characteristics of its field, development trend and prospects, nature and scope of work, responsibilities and requirements, etc.
  2. If the company concerned is large or reputable, you should get more information about it, such as company structure, product lines, market position, business performance, company policy etc.
  3. Review your own strengths and weaknesses. Then ask yourself why the post concerned is suitable for you, and how you can work to the best of your ability.
  4. You should consider all potential benefits arise from the company and the post applied, other than just salary and company benefits, such as relevant experience, customer connections, product knowledge, etc. These are especially important when you need to compare the worthiness of the posts you applied at the same time. Besides, the above mentioned has great impact on your future career development.
  5. Prepare yourself to answer any questions regarding your background and resume. You should know the information in detail and be ready to answer all common questions.
  6. Bring the originals of your certificates and reference letters. Keep them orderly in file to ease the inspection by the interviewer.
  7. Your appearance should be clean and tidy. No colorful and fancy clothes, otherwise the interviewer will identify you as immature. A dark suit would be appropriate for such occasion. If you are a female, your make-up and accessories should not be more than necessary.
  8. Do not forget the time and place for interview and never be late. If you are not familiar with the place, check a map beforehead. It is good for you to arrive ten minutes before the interview so that you can take some time to relax. This may help you to perform better during the interview.
面試前的準備
 
  1. 對你所投考的機構和職位,搜集多些有關資料,例如所屬行業的持性,發展趨向和前景、工作之性質及範圍、責任及要求等。
  2. 如果有關機構規模較大或知名度較高,則須要搜集更廣泛的資料,如集團架構、產品種類、市場地位、業務狀況及管理政策等。
  3. 檢討自己性格的長短處,再考慮為何有關工作適合自己,和如何在申請的職位上發揮所長。
  4. 應考慮薪酬及公司褔利以外,有關工作可能提供自己的好處,例如經驗、客戶網絡、產品知識等,方便自己在申請超過一份職位空缺時,比較價值。此外,以上好處對自    己的未來發展將有重要影響。
  5. 準備好去回答一切關於自己背景或履歷表上的問題,對自己填報的資料應掌握清楚。一些常見的面試問題亦應事先準備好答案。
  6. 帶備有關証書及推薦書之正本,並把文件的次序整齊排列,以備面試員查閱。
  7. 外表及打扮要整齊清潔,衣服顏色不要太鮮艷和花巧,否則欠缺成熟穩重的感覺。深色的套裝比較得體,而女性的化粧不宜太濃、首飾佩戴不宜太多。
  8. 緊記面試的時間和地點,千萬別遲到。如不熟悉有關地點,應事先查看地圖。最好在約定時間十分鐘前到達,準備少許時間給自己鬆弛,讓自己在面試中表現得自然和出色。
During the Interview
 
  1. You should behave naturally and do not be nervous. Be polite and greet the interviewer with "Good Morning" or "Good Afternoon". Face the interviewer with a smile and shake his/her hand. The force of the hand-shake should be moderate in order to convince the interviewer that you are confident.
  2. Pay attention to the cleanliness of you hands, especially for those who have more sweat than normal. You may clean your hands with a handkerchief or a piece of tissue.
  3. Do not take your seat unless the interviewer asks you to do so. Your sitting posture should be usual and tilting your body too much to the front would make the interviewer feel that you are nervous.
  4. Let the interviewer start the conversation. Look at him/her and listen carefully. Your answers should be straight forward, but do not be as simple as just saying "Yes" or "No", otherwise the interviewer may think that you are too shy or without any idea about the question. On the contrary, clumsy answers or too much detail would be undesirable. By the way, do not interrupt the interviewer when he/she is talking or asking you question.
  5. Make sure your tone, volume and speaking speed is moderate and appropriate. In fact, speak up a little faster may project persuasion, but the correct pronunciation is important as well while a little gesture can be used to put emphasis on certain points, provided that it is not exaggerated.
  6. Sometimes the interviewer may repeat some questions, indicating he/she does not satisfy to your previous answers or he/she is interested in the area concerned. Nevertheless, do not be annoyed by the repeated question. You should answer again in a more complete and detailed way.
  7. The objective of the interview (to you) is to show your strengths and sell yourself to the interviewer. However, do not make false claims about your strengths and be frank to the interviewer if you do not know the answer to his/her question. If the interviewer expresses interest to your strengths, you should take this opportunity to further convince and persuade him/her by quoting relevant past experiences and actual examples.
  8. The interviewer usually will ask you if you have any questions at the end of the interview. Do not be afraid to ask if you have anything interested or unclear. Asking appropriate questions can make the interviewer feel the you care about the position and take it seriously.
  9. If the interviewer raise the compensation package to discuss with you, you could suggest something within the salary expected range stated in your resume and be flexible in the discussion. If you want to request something beyond the scope you have asked, make sure that the request is supported by extra workload and responsibilities required by the employer. Otherwise, extra claims for compensation at this moment would affect your impression to the employer.
  10.  Prior to accepting the post, remember to check the details of the hiring conditions other than salary. Such as responsibilities, leaves, working hours, overtime payment and probation period, etc. Do not sign the employment contract in a hurry without careful consideration. Otherwise, it may lead to unnecessary future disputes.
面試的時候
 
  1. 不要緊張,只力求表現得自然。要有禮貌,別忘記和主考人打招呼,說句「早晨」或「午安」,望著主考人禮貌地微笑和握手,握手的力度更要適中,才可以給人一種自信的感覺。
  2. 留意手部清潔,特別是一些手汗較多的人,請在握手前用手拍或紙巾抹乾手汗。
  3. 切勿擅自隨便坐下,一定要等待主考人指引才坐下,否則便表現得沒有禮貌。坐姿要自然,身體勿過度前傾,使別人有緊張的感覺。
  4. 讓主考人先打開話題,並且望著他並留心傾聽。回答要直接到題,不要太過簡單;只管答「是」或「不是」,令別人覺得你害羞或沒有頭腦,同時亦不要回答得過份詳細,或截斷對方的話題或提問。
  5. 說話音調及音量要適中,速度不宜太慢,說話快一點有時可以加強說服力,但要注意咬字清楚。適當的手勢,可以加強語氣,但不適宜太過跨張。
  6. 有時主考人會重覆發問一些問題,表示他對你之前的解釋並不滿意,又或者對有關的事情很有興趣,無論如何不要表現出不耐煩,應以更全面及詳細的形式作答一次。
  7. 面試的主要目的,是要向主考人推銷自己的才華和經驗,但切忌言過其實,不曉答的問題就坦白說不曉。假如主考人對你的強項表示興趣,應以過往經驗及實例加強自己的說服力及可信程度。
  8. 通常在面試的最後階段主考人會問你有沒有問題,此時不要害怕向主考人提出疑問,發問適當的問題,更可表示你對申請職位的興趣及認真程度。
  9. 若主考人提出薪酬問題與你商討,大可在之前提出的薪酬範圍內作提議,而且應該保持彈性。若要提出範圍之外的薪酬或福利,就要以工作的特別要求作支持,否則很容易影響了之前的良好印象。
  10. 在接受職位前,緊記查清楚薪酬以外的僱傭條件如職責範圍、假期、上班時間、超時補水及試用期等。切勿因一時衝動,沒有了解清楚細節而簽了僱員合約,以至將來招致不必要的紛爭。
